Final E3000

With the entry of Final into the dynamic earphone world, the E3000 dynamic earphones have been created to provide excellent sound quality with a straightforward design for budget conscious audio lovers. With natural sound that does not emphasize any frequency range specifically, the E3000 provides an overall smooth frequency response for a natural listening experience.

High Resolution Sound

Ensuring the balance of frequencies, the small-aperture dynamic driver in the E3000 have not been tuned to accent any frequency range which would mask other frequencies. With this Final have managed to achieve a flat and natural sound in a dynamic driver that has been crafted with utmost care and precision.

About Final

  • Final produces some of the most beautifully crafted in-ear and over-ear headphones available today.
  • Final creates audiophile headphones that deliver incredibly detailed sound.

Key Features

Innovative Vent Design

To enable accurate airflow of the E3000, a small opening at the back of the housing extends the reproduction of low frequencies. A filter inside prevents sound leakage from the vent and a strong stainless steel grid protects the interior.

Unique Swing Fit Earpieces

To achieve the shortest path of sound waves to the eardrum, the E3000 have been designed with a unique swing fit mechanism that enables the earpieces to be positioned and tilted to the ideal orientation towards the ear canal. With this design the sound is propelled directly to the auditory canal opening up a world of clear and satisfying sound.

Precision Dynamic Driver

Highest levels of precision have been implemented in the construction of the small-scale dynamic driver unit. Every part has been carefully assembled with levels of attention and care unusual for dynamic drivers at this price point.

Sound Image

The sound is powerful and combines core low frequencies and clear mid-to high frequencies that are not masked by the low frequencies. With a well-balanced sound reproduction from low through to high frequencies and high definition, the E3000 is ideally suited for all types of music.

I usually don''t leave reviews but I was left speechless by these.

How should I put this? First of all, WOW. They are gorgeous. For the sound ... This has been the sound signature I have been trying to re-locate since my dreams with JVC hi-end line and the Monsters turbine series. It’s my Audiophile dream coming to life all over again.

Let me just cut straight to the sweets. I''m a bass-head but I love balance when bass is controlled and the frequencies are strong enough to support it. The e3000 are capable of producing tight bass that is felt. The amount of natural bass I am hearing from these, given their price range, is truly and absolutely stunning (Exceptional since they only reach down to 20hz). Not the loudest but one of the clearest.

The mids are clear and rather solid. My set is post burn-in and they do have that fresh out of the box sound. They exhibit great effects and can position themselves correctly if and only if the song demands it, else they tend to be positioned directly center stage. I personally prefer a more floaty mid that is positioned slightly over the head but the imaging is great for this earphone and detail is pretty nice. I hope imaging and detail improve with burn-in

The highs are where most audiophiles will say it’s lacking in when compared to some higher end sets. The highs are very present, consistent and add nice sparkle to the treble, but that''s just it. It isn''t the most defined. However, I would be crazy to tell you that they don''t still sound insanely good for this price range, especially because this earphone can go loud without many audible frequency spikes or frequency distortion.

Fit is perfect and for a 6.4mm driver, these easily beat out any in-ear under $150 price range. This is all before any burn-in has occurred.
Update: 5 hours in. I’m starting to hear more micro detailing and expansive soundstage. This is unbelievable.

Any audiophile out there should be willing to give these sub $60 pair a chance as there is no disappointment here to be found.

This is probably the best earphones at the $50 range you can buy for HiFi sound. I was planning to buy this per some audiophile good reviews, however, then I saw some YouTube videos and some reviews here on Amazon preferring the cheaper E2000, So, I bought them both and tried them for 2-3 weeks to see which is better.

E3000 is made out of stainless steel and it feels and look great, it has more heft and more premium feel to it. E2000 is Aluminium and while still very very high quality for the price range, cannot match the E3000 feel. The rest of the package is identical, the wires, accessories in the box, etc... It comes with additional ear pieces in different sizes but I found the installed ones to be comfortable so I didn''t try any of the others. Speaking of which, the rubber ear pieces are quite comfortable for long listening and fit and stayed in my ear with no issues.

E3000 vs. E2000
I can say that 100% if you''re more of an audiophile, prefer a flatter sound, like a bit higher quality material, the E3000 is a better earphone. The E2000 is also a fantastic headphone, BUT it was too bright for my liking, and TIRING for longer listening... it definitely lacked bass and generally I think works better for more techno, electronic music, while E3000 works for Jazz, Blues, etc... (Audiophile music). For comparison, I listened to them on my desktop with an external DAC, AND on my iPhone listening to lossless Tidal music. I compared on Rock, Jazz, Blues, and some pop and electronic music and found that E2000 had a "higher" treble that to me sounded a bit harsh and too much attenuated, and I actually had to LOWER the volume on my iPhone for it to be comfortable to listen to, while on E3000, I could go to Max volume and it sounded great. I attribute this to some boost at higher frequencies on E2000 which makes it bright and harsh at higher volumes and definitely NOT an Audiophile quality.

Compared to Sony EX650AP
Now, in comparison to my other top earphones, Sony EX650AP (I bought from Japan) for around $100. They are not as of a great tight fit (Sony is the best I''ve ever had), and Sony build quality a tad better, and their wires a bit higher quality. BUT, the sound on E3000 is simply more revealing, flatter, and more audiophile. Also, one main reason I bought these, was to see if they fit with iPhone battery pack, and they do!

So, at the end, I returned the E2000 and kept E3000. You can''t really go wrong with either, but it kinda depends what do you prefer. Crisp, brighter sounding or flatter, more bottom end? Either case, GREAT VALUE for these Japanese earphones. Highly recommended!

Pros:
- Very light and easy to wear
- Super high quality stainless steel enclosure, why above the price range
- Fantastic controlled bass
- Great midrange and NOT TIRING treble (vs. E2000)
- 3.5mm jack works with iPhone battery pack (see pics)
- Easy to drive with your phone
- Overall a very HiFi sounding earphone, mostly flat through most of the range and great for listening to Jazz, Blues, Rock

Cons:
- No volume or phone control
- The wire could be slightly better, but at $55, it''s quite adequate

I''ve never owned a set of true high end in-ear monitors (aka "earbuds") before. No, the throwaway kind Apple used to give away with their iPods don''t count. My reference headphones are Sony MDR-V7506 and Audio Technica ATH-M40x. These E3000s sound closer to the Audio Technicas than they do the Sonys. Which means they are fuller, wamer, and richer sounding than average. Not lean or bright at all. Of course, that might disqualify them for use as true studio monitors but I''m not using them in a studio. They are used with a FiiO X-1 hi-rez digital player and in that role they excel. They look nice, are plenty efficient without needing an outboard amp, they fit exceedingly well (five different rubber tips are provided guaranteeing all but the weirdest shaped ear canals will be satisfied), and they offer medium isolation. Some ambient sound gets through - these aren''t quite as sealing as "foamies" or triple flange hearing protector earplugs - but they aren''t as "open" as a typical pair of on-ear or open-backed headphones. So they will likely work well in a moderately noisy environment. On a bus or plane you will still want full noise-cancelling headphones for sure. All in all, I can''t imagine a better pair of IEMs...I mean earbuds. If they were any cheaper, I''d give them out on Halloween to introduce all the kids to QUALITY SOUND. Highly recommended!

Extra bonus is that they also have a light and secure fit that I found very comfortable (the audiophileon.com guy pointed out that although the silicon tips look like other silicon tips, they actually have some sort of moldable structure inside them which helps with fit and sound quality.)

I am not shy about returning headphones I don''t like but these are KEEPERS. This might be the happiest I''ve been with some earphones since my beloved Nuforce NE-700X. But to be fair those cost $90 in 2014.

Update after 2 weeks of use:

I went to a larger tip and now they don''t sit as far in my ear. The bass and soundstage both improved with more air around the instruments. I really like these. I don''t find myself thinking oh they do this, or they don''t do that with regard to sound. The just play the music. That little TINY bit of graininess is gone with some break in I guess. While I don''t listen to Metal or EDM they handle all genres of music well and handle more complex music like rock well compared to others I have tried. They come with 4 size tips so finding the right size is easier compared to pairs that only come with 3 size tips. The tips grip the nozzle really well but still come off and go on pretty easily. They come with some really small ear hooks but I haven''t tried them yet. There is no listening fatigue yet they are still pretty accurate. They do not go really loud but they do go loud enough for me.I haven''t played with EQ much because I haven''t felt the need. Wires are thin and tangle pretty easily and don''t untangle very easily. I have not noticed any microphonics. Of course, I''d like to have $100 buds but for $55 dollars they hit my nice but I won''t cry if I lose them price point.

Original review

They are not even broken in yet (and they don''t need it) but my only real complaint and it''s nitpicky, but they have a touch of graininess. But nowhere near as much as the Carbo Tenor. These are very neutra with decent detail while never being too bright. There is nice seperation between instruments but not much of a soundstage but there is nice amount of ''air'' around the intruments. They do not have a lot of extension but they are not bass shy like the Carbo Tenor were. Drums sound natural, again not like the Carbo Tenor where they sounded more like carboard boxes.

They are very light so they very comfortable. (I like straight earphones the best) The default tips fit me the best which is a nice change for me. There is next to no strain relief on the earphones as you can see in the picture so if you are hard on headphones, maybe consider other phones. on the good side the lack of strain relief makes them very comfortable worn wire up which i want for the gym. They have vents on the back so I doubt that isolation is very good for in-ear phones.

In summary these are nuetral sounding with out any of the ''problems'' of hifi. They are never over sibilant and they do not punish badly recorded songs or when listening to low bit rate stuff like pandora. I would call them fun for working out but they are not too dry if the quality of the music is what you want. They are not going to impress anyone or give you an eargasm when listening to your best music. But at $54 I''m extemely please with them and for me are a big step up from the Carbo Tenor unless you are impressed by a forward/blaring sound.

First off, don’t bother buying these if you plan on listening to low res mp3’s. They sound terrible with low quality sources.

I almost put them back in the box and returned them for that reason. For an inexpensive in-ear, they are terribly unforgiving.

That’s where things get weird. You would expect something at this price point to offer little as the source material improved, but it’s the opposite.

I’m currently writing this while listening to Dire Straits via Tidal, and they are impressive. Excellent midrange. Resolving far beyond what you would expect at this price point.

Clear, neutral, and accurate. The trade off being very little in the way of any low end. If Final could have pulled all of this off, with a little slam, the price would go through the roof.

Regardless, if you favor neutrality, midrange, and an amazing ability to dig deep into vocals, strings and wind instruments, you’ve come to the right place.

Update:

One more thing: If there was ever an IEM that needed several hours of play time to open up, you''re looking at them. Don''t make the mistake of sending them back without enough time for the low end to open up. There is actually quite a bit there, and it is very well balanced and defined. Making these 5 star IEM''s for the price.

The sound quality is not that great by an absolute standard but it''s alright for the price I''d say.

The sound signature is more or less neutral but slanted towards bass. Most people will find it inoffensive. The treble and upper mids (including female vocals) are arguably a bit recessed, but I''m treble-sensitive and I don''t find the E3000s harsh or bright like most "neutral" earphones in this price range.

Great comfort-wise: they''re small and unobtrusive. I used the medium tips at first and they felt and fit great, better than any silicone ones I''ve tried, but they unfortunately ended up compressing over time so I switched to the large ones, which were less comfortable at first but seem to have broken in over time.

Do note that they don''t isolate that great - you''ll be able to hear outside sounds and the sound of the earphones will leak out somewhat. The wind also whistles through the open grill in the back - not ideal for outdoor use.

I love the cable, which is very soft and lightweight. It seems durable so far despite how thin it is.

Maybe the biggest issue with them is the terrible left/right indicators - a very light "L" / "R" on a metallic background which is impossible to see at night.

Overall I do like them and use them on a regular basis.

These are great little earphones and they really are little. There is nothing little about their sound though. These elegantly designed earphones have a big warm sound. If you are seeking a precise and accurate presentation of the highest resolution recordings of jazz or classical these ain''t your earphones. If you want a warm, inviting and soothing sound these may be for you. I have many headphones to choose from and I may use the same one for a while but on many days I find myself using the e3000 because its so pleasant and easy going. An odd thing about them is that they seem to sound better the longer you have them. They also have a reputation for being bass cannons and it is well deserved. With lively electronic music like that by deadmau5, the bass hits very hard but, it isn''t a bloated glob of gross bass, it has a punchy slam to it. If you like some definition to your bass these are a more refined way to get your hit. They fit a little bit different from others due to their size. You insert them into your ear canals without force until you feel resistance. The ear tip holds the steel housing in place and the housing sticks out from it and can pivot like a joystick, you can move it about quite freely. This is by design, as long as the tip is seated it doesn''t matter what angle the housing is at. Final call this their swing fit design. I have used Comply foam tips for a brief time which are effective to get a good ear seal and even more secure fit but have the effect of making the bass less defined and a little unpleasant. Foam tips can be great to tame screechy earphones but aren''t ideal with those that sound warm already. The tips made and supplied by Final are among the best available and would cost about $20 to buy on their own. I''ve tried a few different tips of similar price just out of interest and none were as effective. They work just fine played on a phone headphone socket. I use a small DAC/amp or dongle out of habit and the power can add a little extra to some music but it isn''t essential.

These earphones come simply packaged, with a decent selection of silicone eartips and a flimsy, cheap pouch. The cable is thin and not replaceable. So the first impressions are of a budget product, which it is. The earphones themselves are small, simple, and beautifully made. The cable and pouch might have cut corners, but the actual earphones were exquisitely manufactured. The silicone tips were also custom-designed for Final, and they come with clever over-ear guides which are removable. So they saved money in packaging but not the pieces that matters. The sound is definitely bass-friendly, no doubt about it. Bass is full and boosted. I believe that Final does this with their lower-priced earphones as part of a strategy to wean buyers away from cheaper, skull-shaker earphones, and walk them up the audio quality ladder. They keep the bass-boost at the lower price ranges so first-time buyers get that familiar full bass sound, and hope they get hooked on the detailed mid-range and clear treble, and become curious about the more expensive Final offerings. These earphones are designed to fit deep in the ear canal - not brain poking deep like Etymotics, but deep - so you get a good seal and isolation from surrounding sounds. It also creates an intimate soundstage. On my equipment, they are largely hiss-free, even with good tube amplification. They are sensitive enough to run directly from a phone, but they do respond well to good amplifiers as well. Aside from the boosted bass, these are warm and spacious in the mid-range and have clear, accurate treble. It''s a full, friendly sound, which is designed to reward all types of music and listeners. Compared to some earphones in the same price range, the Hifiman RE-400 ($65) lack the boosted bass of the E3000($60), and have a more relaxed, airy sound. The Monoprice XXX ($75) are hotter in the treble and are also boosted in the bass, but more in the mid-bass than the low-bass of the E3000. The mid-bass emphasis in the XXX detracts from the realism of mid-range vocals, when compared to the E3000. For the price, these are great earphones, especially if you love bass. They are definitely high class in terms of sound, and the money saved in packaging and the cable is well spent in the build quality of the actual earphones. They can serve bass-lovers as their primary earphones, or as a bass-friendly option for music lovers who enjoy different earphones for different types of music.

This Final Audio Design in-ear-monitor comes at a very modest price for the quality of sound you''ll hear. The sound is detailed, well-balanced, and low frequencies are pleasantly rich if a proper seal to the ear canal is achieved. To that end, the E3000 comes with a variety of different sized tips, one pair of which should fit most ears. The tips are are made of very soft silicone rubber which easily adapt to the shape of the ear canal. These IEMs are comfortable enough to be worn for several hours at a time, even an entire work day. The cables are quite thin and very supple, easily wrapping around the included silicone ear hooks, which are able to conform to the shape of the upper earlobe and are also very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The ear hooks do a superb job of eliminating cable noise and also provide strain relief where the cables attach to the monitors. This is an important function as the cables are not removable/replaceable. (To get this feature you need to step up to the E4000 or E5000.) Because of the perforated rear surface of the cases, these IEMs are ideal for listening to music in a quiet setting. If you want to be able to enjoy music while in a noisy environment, you will either need to wear external hearing protection, or you will need to purchase a set of noise-isolating IEMs instead. I once tried listening to music with the E3000s while on a flight... in spite of a good seal to my ear canal, the noise from the jet engines totally drowned out the music! As someone who appreciates good-quality sound, I recommend these earphones to those who have discerning ears, but are on a tight budget. Audiophiles who can afford to should opt for one of the more refined (and more expensive) offerings from this excellent company.
